Singers

Minna Aarnio, soprano


Minna started performing at the age of five. At seven she joined her first choral group and has been singing in ensembles ever since. She started out as an alto and became a lyric soprano after starting singing lessons at the age 17. Minna’s choirs include The Finnish Radio Youth Choir, the choir of The Finnish Radio Broadcasting Company, Tapiola Chamber Choir, The Finnish Vocal Ensemble and The Peter Schreier Choir.

Maija Lappalainen, mezzosoprano


Maija is a true amateur. Her work as a medical doctor keeps her busy, but the love for music and especially singing has always played a big role. She has studied singing, piano, violin and oboe in Espoo Music Institute, played in several orchestras and sung in various ensembles and choirs, f.e. Tapiola Childrens’ Choir,  Tapiola Chamber Choir and The Peter Schreier Choir. Currently she sings in Clic and The Finnish Vocal Ensemble.

Pia Lönnqvist, contralto


Pia started singing well before going to Primary School. At the age of 8 she made her first recordings, which are still widely heard in the radio. She was also a member of the Tapiola Childrens' Choir during 1971 - 1983 and studied piano and violin in Espoo Music Institute. After having finished High School in 1979  Pia has performed frequently as a freelance singer an musician. Currently Pia works as a mosaic artist and singer. Her latest music projects have been with Carita Holmström, Human Organ and Adiemus Singers, a group of twelve Finnish singers that recorded Karl Jenkins Adiemus Colores in 2013.

Mikko Eskelinen, tenor


Mikko started his singing career in Cantores Minores boys choir at the age of 8. A few years later he sang the role of third boy in Mozart´s Magic flute at Savonlinna Opera Festival. After some years of studying at the Conservatoire of Helsinki, he has been performing as tenor in many choruses, including the choir of The Finnish Radio Broadcasting Company and Tapiola Chamber choir. Besides Clic, he sings regularly with Versio Ensemble and The Finnish Vocal Ensemble.

Timo Markkula, bass


Timo started singing at a very young age and joined Cantores Minores boys choir before he was ten. Even though Timo's profession is not in music, he sings in all of the top chamber choirs in Finland including Tapiola Chamber Choir and The Finnish Vocal Ensemble. As a very talented and experienced bass singer he is also frequently needed as a powerful, reliable and quick-learning bass to help in various choir concerts at very short notice. Timo is a professional engineer and he knows everything about recording, so he is always available to set up a pair of microphones to document any concert.
